Build 55. Front Side Repeaters

I really wanted to get the front finished off and over the weekend I had little bits of time to pop in and out of the garage. I used this to fit the side repeaters onto the wing stays. This is another one of those fiddly jobs for the IVA but all that was required was a bit of patience.

The first thing to do is to slot the side repeater onto the wing by passing both the green and black cables through, then you can tighten up the nuts and they will then be attached ready to be wired up. I chose now to put some heat shrink on the green cable (so it is covered before it enters the wing stay end) and then also some black 4mm ID silicone tubing (to protect it some more). I then passed a small piece of different cable (yellow in my pictures) through the wing stay top and out of the other end (small hole where it meets the upright) using a small screw driver to pull the wire through at the other end.

Then I simply used insulation tape to connect the two wires and pulled the green wire through (still with its Econoseal connector on it) The rest of the green cable was then covered in heat shrink again and a grommet was fitted to where it leaves the wing stay. I chose to apply heat to the heat shrink after the grommet was installed which meant I could get some of it inside the grommet itself for a neat finish. Note this was very fiddly and requires patience, I'd also use own bought grommets and not the ones CC provide.

Then route the cable along the upper wishbone and then pass it into the chassis and use another bit of 4mm black silicone tubing to protect the cable where it enters (this is cable I bought from amazon, CC recommend using clear tubing which doesn't look as good)

I then used a rivet to secure the earth cable to the hole we made earlier on the wing stay (as shown in the picture above left in the distance). Finally I cable tied everything up nice and neat and repeated on the other side.

At this point I also chose to wire the Econoseal connectors and test that the lights all work.
